Klaudia Kemper

Daughter of a Chilean mother and German father, she was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1966, moved to Santiago de Chile in 1976. She graduated with maximum distinction in Design from the Catholic University of Chile in 1990, at the same time taking courses in Art. Between 1994 and 1998 he lived in Paris where she attended the Faculty of Beaux Arts at La Sorbonne Paris I and La Escola Massana in Barcelona. She returned to Chile and lived in Valparaíso from 1999 to 2003, the year she resettled in Santiago. She has two daughters. Between 2014 and 2016, she studied a master's degree in Documentary Film at the University of Chile.

She has explored the languages ​​of painting, animation, photography, video, installation and documentary film. Her work questions identity through investigations of the human body and the aesthetics of biographical reconstruction, addressing themes from an organic eco-feminist perspective. In it she contrasts technological cleanliness and manual workmanship, revealing the intimate fragility of the human being.

Since 1990 she has held more than 100 exhibitions in museums, galleries and film festivals in more than 15 countries, such as the Reina Sofía Art Center, Madrid, the Metropolitan Center of Quito, the Chopo Museum in Mexico in 2010, the Museum of the Republic, Rio de Janeiro in 2015, the Borges Cultural Center in 2006, among others.She has won numerous funding grants for her art and film projects. Her work has been published in 15 books in Chile and is part of the collection of 8 museums in Chile and the MoMA in New York. She has a prolific audiovisual production of animated short films and video art.

Since 2017 she has directed 30 documentaries by Chilean artists together with a team of women filmmakers. She has taught classes in Art, Design and Film faculties, currently teaching an Animation workshop in the film master's degree at the University of Chile. Live and work in Santiago de Chile.
